Hi there, fit like?
Winter is definitely upon us now.. it’s bloody freezing outside, so I thought it was time to share with you my five favourite winter essentials. Winter is my favourite season, and no it’s not only because Christmas is in winter (well for us in the UK it is) but also the weather with it’s frost, ice and snow, the dark nights, it’s just my absolute favourite. And of course it’s the time of year when you can dig out your woollies and finally begin to wrap up warm again!
Here are my five favourite winter essentials to get you prepped for the cold weather to come!
- Woolly Hats
My favourite accessory of all time, and a very practical one too. In the unpredictableness that is Scottish weather you need to be prepared at all times for the possibility of having bloody cold ears. So this year my hats of choice for autumn and mostly likely through the winter as well have been these bad boys –
These hats are sooo cosy and the perfect fit, oh and they came from Primark AND they only cost £2 each! It just gets better and better. Primark are great for having a large selection of woollies, from hats, scarves and gloves to great jumpers and the cosiest pyjamas.
2. Lip Balm
I don’t know about you, but I get seriously chapped lips in winter, it’s like the cold air hits them and BAM, they are chapped and sore. So I carry around a large supply of lip balms – one for every eventuality, occasion and mood.
I don’t really have a favourite when it comes to lip balms, I tend to go for ye old faithfuls that are Carmex, Vaseline & Nivea. If I’m feeling adventurous though I do have L’Occitaine ones and Caudalie ones (I see a French theme occurring)
Much like my lips, by skin also suffers in winter, with the cold temperatures outside and the stuffy central heating inside, you just can’t win. If I don’t keep up my moisturising and exfoliating routine, I become part reptile, hahaha, ew.
The moisturiser I’m currently using is this Dove Derma Spa Goodness and I have to say I LOVE it, it’s not to thick and not too sticky and it makes my skin feel soooo nice. It also smells amazing! I’ve always had sensitive skin, but have never had any issues with Dove products, so I would highly recommend.
Another favourite accessory of mine, I could legit start a scarf shop, it’s not even funny how many I own. I have massive thick woolly ones, thin summer ones, tartan ones, cashmere ones, the list is endless.
And so of course, I decided I didn’t have enough scarves and bought a new one! I’m not even sorry, it’s sooo nice, cosy and soft! I bought this scarf in Next for I think £16, and I’m adore it, I mean it’s a massive ass grey scarf, what’s not to love?!
5. Chai Tea
For me it is essential to drink as many delicious hot drinks as I can when it’s cold, because to be honest you get less of a chance to when the fine weather comes in! I drink a lot of hot drinks, from tea, to coffee, to herbal teas, etc, but there is one tea that is great for cold, dark wintry nights (it might have something to do with the fact it tastes like Christmas) and that is – chai tea!
You can drink it is a number of different ways, with just milk, milk and hot water or with just hot water, it’s a bit like hot chocolate to be fair. I love the fact that the spices that make up chai are so Christmassy – it makes me feel even more festive.
Anyhoo those are my five winter essentials, what are your essentials for the winter, let me know by leaving a comment below!
